The Father/Son Relationship

During my recent studies I have been having random "How do they read this and think Jesus is God/Jehovah?" moments. Sometimes, they are not even based solely on scripture. What I mean by that is we are made in God's image, so therefore, our way of thinking must be based on His.

So, I have decided to record some of these thoughts and scriptures to the blog - that is what they are for right? So here goes:

Jehovah created the family dynamic. Everything about it, He is the reason it even exists. Clearly there is a reason Jehovah is called the Father (Isaiah 63:16) and Jesus is called His Son (Luke 9:35). What do we know about the Father/Son relationship that Jehovah created? We know that...
  • The Son is never equal to the Father.
  • The Father always has more power and authority.
  • The Son was (at least partially) created by the Father.
  • The Father is always older than the Son; or existed before the Son did.
  • The Father and the Son can have the same title (i.e. both of them can be called "Mr. Jackson") without being considered to be the same person.
These are guidelines laid out for us in the Bible and seemingly by our human nature. Since all of those points are counter-intuitive to what the Trinity teaches, why would Jehovah call Jesus his Son? The Trinity teaches the Father and Son are equal; they have equal power and authority; the Son was not created; they both have always existed together; and since they have the same title - they are the same being. If we are created in God's image, then this contradiction of common sense should not exist when it comes to our understanding of WHO God is. Why would Jehovah make us accept that His relationship with His Son is COMPLETELY opposite of the Father/Son relationship He has engrained in our minds and written in His Word?

Like everything else about the Trinity - it doesn't make sense.

Is there a specific scripture in the Bible that you are confused about? That you think proves the trinity to be true and would like it clarified? Any questions about the trinity at all, let me know. I would be more than willing to provide the information for you, or the place where you find the information.
